Field SizeAll C Division games should be played on approximately 1/4 of afull field.
PlayersGames should be played with 8 players, including thegoalkeeper.Short-sided games can be played if necessary, thecoaches should discuss and agree in advance as to the numbers of players to be on the field. In all cases the number of players shouldbe equal. Onecoach is permitted to be on the field for instruction and encouragement.
GamesEach game is to be played within the span of one hour.Tomaximize your playing time, you should warm-up your team on the side lines prior to the appointed game time.To facilitatesubstitutions, quarters will be played. The length of the quarters should be approximately 12 minutes but actual play will depend onstarting times.Remember, you have to be off the field ON THEHOUR.
Substitutions You may only substitute when your team has possession on a throw-in, corner kick. or goal kick.You must get the consent ofthe referee prior to making substitutions.
Throw-inPlayers are allowed two attempts to make a legal throw-in.Both hands must leave the ball at the same time, both feet must be on the ground when the ball is released, and the ball must pass directly over the head of the throwing player.If the referee deemsthe second throw-in illegal, it is turned over to the opposing team.
Corner KickTwo attempts are allowed.If kicked out of bounds on the second try, it becomes a goal kick for the opposing team.
Goal KickPlayers must move outside of the penalty box.The ball cannot be touched by another player until it clears the penalty box.
Penalty KicksAll fouls that occur are Indirect Free Kicks. An IFK must touchanother player prior to entering the goal in order to be a valid goal. If no touch occurs, it is a goal kick for the opposition.Opposing players must be 10 yards back from the IFK.
OffsidesC Division does not play with the offside rule.
Heading Heading the ball at this level is not permitted.
Slide Tackle NOT PERMITTED at this level.
Drop BallsThere are no drop ball face-offs at this level.
Fighting or OtherInappropriateBehaviorRemove the child from the field for the balance of the game.Review the rules of sportsmanship with the child. Emphasize that a second incident will result in their suspension for the balance ofthe season.Coaches must be vigilant in enforcing the tenants of good sportsmanship.
EquipmentSHIN GUARDS ARE MANDATORY. Coaches must check players prior to games. Goalies must wear the helmet.Mouth guard for keepers is optional. Cleats are recommended, but they are optional.
SpectatorsWe ask that spectators stay away from the end lines(behind the goals) and the team area if possible. There will be no fighting, smoking, or other inappropriate behavior tolerated towards participants, coaches, referees, or other spectators.For questions concerning these rules, please contact the PBYS Club.
